Your Unique Role

As an Optical Materials/3D Printing Engineer you will focus primarily on materials and equipment to enable 3D printing of optical materials, in the company’s Optical Monomers and Coatings business. You will be a part of an especially important business unit of twenty technicians, chemists and Ph. Ds and engineers working collaboratively on exploratory, demanding, innovative technology. You will be a pioneer, using 3D printing to make eyeglass lenses!

  • You are the subject matter expert, having expertise in 3D printing equipment, building A PRINTER FROM THE GROUND UP. Collaborating with the Optical Materials team from Proof of concept – new invention-formulation-scale-up process engineering-commercial launch to technical service, often collaborating directly with the customers (eyeglass manufacturers).
  • This position will drive new product development through direct laboratory experimentation that enables commercialization.

Seeking a Candidate With

  • BS degree in engineering. Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or Polymer Science, Mechanical or Electrical.
  • 5 or more years’ experience in 3D printing, additive manufacturing, prototyping, and equipment development/programming.
  • Knowledge of DLP and SLA printing of UV-cure resins.
  • Proven ability to conduct innovative and independent research.
  • Successful record of applying statistical tools for DOE and data analysis.
