Your Unique Role

As a Research & Development Color Technologist you will be in the Thermoplastics Laboratory. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving color measurement, color matching, and data archiving. This person will be maintaining spectrophotometer calibrations, reviewing color-matching databases for improvements, interfacing with suppliers to service equipment, and ensuring data is recorded and stored in accordance with ISO 9001 procedures.

Additionally, you will:

  • Calibrate color measurement instrumentation, perform minor repairs, and coordinate service
  • Work across departments and locations to ensure continuity and consistency of color and appearance measurements
  • Stay current with latest technology on appearance measuring equipment and color imaging software.
  • Recommend technology upgrades and evaluations
  • Manage color matching databases
  • Prepare and maintain sample preparation guidelines
  • Measure, store and maintain physical and electronic color exhibits for database preparation
  • Create templates and forms to improve QC and R&D efficiency

Seeking a Candidate With:

  • A two- or four-year degree, preferably in science.
  • Minimum 2-6 years of Color experience in a technical role is a plus
  • Strong background in color theory and the ability to explain color concepts
  • Ability to understand and drive a project through to completion
  • Ability to work under pressure as well as within tight deadlines.
  • Must be proficient at operating a variety of physical testing and light analytical equipment including spectrophotometers, melt flow apparatus, microscopes, micrometers, density and various scales
  • Experience with Familiarity with a variety of computer software (Excel, SQL, SyBase or MS Access)
