Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Molding Development, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and coordinating the development and implementation of molds and related engineering activities to support new product development projects through manufacturing scale-up, as well as existing production.

  • Plan, implement and coordinate new molding development activities (mold design/build and molding processes) as well as changes to existing molding/manufacturing processes. Utilize CAD/CAM, mold flow and CFD techniques, state-of-the art productivity tools along with mold cavity process monitoring instrumentation.
  • Provide tooling development support to new product development and technology teams and improve productivity, reduce customer complaints and drive improvements to reduce scrap, raise quality levels, and optimize processes in molding operations.
  • Interface with personnel from R&D, Plant Molding, Quality, Manufacturing, Process/Assembly Technology (MTI), and outside mold maker/molding vendors.
  • Coordinate and carry out qualification and validation activities for new products, processes, changes and transfers as required.
  • Specify equipment, molds and materials for new molding processes, existing processes, or existing process changes ensuring part designs can be injection molded economically – Design for Mold-ability & Scale-ability and ensures that materials chosen for parts are economical and appropriate.
  • Install new equipment and molds to support new product development, existing molding/manufacturing process changes, replication or scale-up.

Seeking a Candidate With:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Plastics Engineering or a related technical field, or relevant experience.
  • Previous engineering experience in an injection molding manufacturing environment. (Medical or regulated industry) or High-volume manufacturing
  • Background in processing and experience with AutoCAd or 3D design software
