Your Unique Role
Here is your opportunity to make a difference and impact the development of “green” sustainable processes. The Analytical Chemist will lead the company’s efforts in the application of analytical measurement, methods, and tools. Data is a key deliverable in this company such that you will be a very highly valued contributor.
- Develop rigorous analytical methods.
- Write standard analytical procedures that are compatible with ASTM methods.
- Mentor and teach junior scientists, engineers, and technicians regarding analytical methods and instrumentation.
- Troubleshoot analytical instruments.
- Assist project teams by providing a chemistry perspective, help develop hypotheses, and conduct relevant lab tests.
- Become in-house polymer materials expert.
- Support future pilot plant activities by identifying analytical solutions in collaboration with engineers and scientists who are located at the pilot plant site.
- As time permits, participate in product development studies. This requires an ability to plan and manage test programs involving company resources, 3rd-party laboratories, and external certification bodies such as ASTM and other industry consortium groups.
Seeking A Candidate With
We are searching for an Analytical Chemist who has worked with plastics & polymer materials and has demonstrated problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and a history of taking a pro-active approach in a team setting.
- MS or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or closely related field is required.
- 5+ years of experience in Industry (not only academia) as an Analytical Chemist involved with plastics and polymers.
- (Salary is available to accommodate senior level specialists/ experts with 30+ years of experience.)
- Required skills & experiences:
- Analytical methods development and procedure writing.
- Data quality control and assurance methodologies.
- Statistical process methods.
- Application of selected ASTM and EPS test procedures (plastic materials emphasized).
- ICP atomic emission spectrometry, ion chromatography & HPLC, has chromatography (GC), and mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
- Working knowledge of Agilent ChemStation software.
- Additional desired skills, not required. (But, necessary to command the top salary which is not published):
- FTIR identification of plastics
- Water analyses
- On-line process sampling systems
